Channeling the Current

The ego gets a bad rap.

We're told to shed it, transcend it, overcome it.

As if the part of us that strives, that pushes toward achievement is something to be ashamed of.

But what if ego is just energy?

Raw, powerful, directable energy.

The problem isn't the existence of ego-driven achievement. It's that we stop there, mistaking the container for the contents.

The engineers don't try to stop the river. They build a dam.

When we integrate our achievement drive with our higher purpose and deeper calling, something remarkable happens. Power and ambition fuse with vision to create something neither could produce alone.

The rushing water that once flooded the town now generates electricity that lights it. The energy hasn't disappeared, it's been harnessed for the greater good.

The question isn't whether to banish the ego's energy.

It’s how skillfully you direct its power.
